- • Your account and conversations are stored in Singapore
- • Your questions are processed by Google (Gemini) and Cohere under paid terms that bar training on your data
- • We never read your conversations — unless you tap “Share chat” on one
- • We don't sell your data to anyone
- • You can delete your data anytime
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and name. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft, we receive your name and email from that provider. With Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
Conversations with Imago
We store your chat conversations so you can return to them. These are private to you. They may touch on sensitive and personal matters — we treat them accordingly (see “Improving answers” below for the one exception, and it is opt-in).
Journals and prayer lists
Reflections, journal entries, and prayer items you write in the app are stored with your account. They are private to you and are never read by the team.
Usage data
We collect basic usage information (features used, session duration) and push-notification tokens so the app can do its job — for example, telling you when a new sermon or Coffee with Kong episode is out.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve Imago’s features
- Ground answers in your church’s sermons, approved literature, and Coffee with Kong episodes
- Send notifications you have asked for
- Respond to your support requests
We do not use your conversations, journals, or prayer lists to train AI models.
3. How AI processing works
When you ask Imago a question, the question is processed by these providers, under paid API terms which means your data is not used to train their models:
- Google (Gemini): generates the answer and finds relevant passages
- Cohere: ranks search results
- Pinecone: hosts the search index. It contains church content — sermon transcripts and podcast episodes — not your account data or conversation history. Your question is turned into a search query, used for that lookup, and not stored there.
Because these providers operate outside Singapore, your questions are processed abroad, while everything stored about you stays in Singapore.
4. Improving answers — only if you choose
If you choose to share a conversation from the feedback prompt, the Imago team may read it, and run it through an AI reviewer, to find and fix bad answers. Unshared conversations are never read.
Rating an answer with 👍 or 👎 saves only the rating — it does not share the conversation.
5. Data sharing
We share data only with the service providers who help us operate Imago:
- Supabase: database and authentication (Singapore)
- Railway: hosting for the Imago backend
- Expo: push notifications to your device
- Google, Cohere, Pinecone: AI processing, as described above
We never sell your personal information to anyone.
6. Data security
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Data at rest is encrypted
- Access to user data is strictly limited — conversations are never read unless you share them
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access: view all data we hold about you
- Delete: remove individual conversations or your entire account — deleting a conversation deletes it permanently
- Correct: update your account information
To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
8. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be kept for analytics.
9. Cookies & local storage
We use only what the app needs to function:
- Authentication tokens — keeps you signed in
- App preferences — remembers your settings
We do not use analytics or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your explicit consent first.
10. Children's privacy
Imago serves church members of all ages, with age-appropriate content for youth. If you are under 13, please use Imago with a parent or guardian's knowledge and consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information without that consent, contact us and we will remove it.
11. International users
Imago is operated from Singapore. Your account data is stored in Singapore; questions you ask are processed by the AI providers described above, which operate in other countries under the terms described there.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
